Tesla's Model S P100D Can Now Do 0-100km/h in Less Than 2.5-Seconds

- The Tesla Model S P100D is capable of doing 0-100 km/h in under 2.5-sec
- The Model S P100D also gets extended battery life with a range of 507 km
- The Model X P100D is capable of doing 0-100 km/h in under 2.9 seconds
Earlier when Tesla introduced the update Model S P100D, the vehicle became the quickest production car in the world with its capability to achieve 0-100kmph in less than 2.6 seconds in Ludicrous Mode. In a bid to secure the title for as long as it can, the American electric carmaker is about to roll out a new software update that will further bring down the number by over 0.1 seconds. With the new software update, all Model S P100D cars will now be able to do a 0-100km/h sprint in less than 2.5 seconds in the Ludicrous Mode. Also Tesla's bigger battery pack helps you clock a range of 507 km on a single charge under ideal conditions.
The only catch is the software update comes in the form of Tesla Easter egg, which means the owner will have to figure out how to unlock the hidden feature before they can use it. Tesla has delivered performance improvements via software changes in the past but this is the first time it's offering up such a tweak as an Easter egg. Moreover, the new software update is not just limited to new P100D owners but also for those who have got their older Model S P90D upgraded to P100S.

The Tesla Model X is also available in the P100D version
Then, there is also the Tesla Model X P100D, most obviously it is based on the standard Model X SUV and is capable of doing the 0-100 km/h run in just 2.9 seconds and can travel up to 465 km on a single charge. Mind you, the Model X is a full-sized SUV weighing more than twice the regular weight of superfast coupes. The additional power actually makes it 0.2 seconds faster than the iconic McLaren F1. That said, either version of the P100D comes with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
Interestingly, existing Tesla Models S and Model X P90D owners can also upgrade their cars to the P100D spec at a premium of $20,000 (around Rs. 13.41 lakh), while those who ordered the P90D and are yet to take delivery can upgrade to the P100D with an additional cost of $10,000 (around Rs. 6.7 lakh). However, a completely new model will set you back by a starting price of $134,500 in the US (around Rs. 90.20 lakh). Now that's certainly not cheap in any way, but Tesla says that it needs to sell a more expensive P100D, in order to fund the development of its much affordable Model 3. Eventually, it should even the odds out with the Model 3 making it a larger target audience.

Tesla Model S P90D can upgrade their cars to the P100D for $20,000
Another Tesla Easter eggs introduced by the company include a mode that turns the in-car display into a James Bond-themed console from the Lotus submarine car used in The Spy Who Loved Me. You unlock this by keying "007" into the car's service console login.
