Upcoming Kia EV6 Electric Crossover Spotted In India

- The Kia EV6 is one of the six EVs Kia and Hyundai plan to launch in India
- It is expected to go on sale as a completely built unit (CBU).
- It is expected to hit the road this quarter.
We were the first to tell you that the Kia's electric crossover is coming to India and in our exclusive story we talked about the timelines of the electric car's launch in the country. We know for a fact that this will be Kia's first electric vehicle in India but the company is yet to share a comprehensive strategy with regards to our country. However, on the group front, a lot has been said.
Kia and Hyundai together have planned to bring six all-electric models in India by 2024 and the Kia EV6 is one of them. The EV has been spotted in India in Hyderabad, suggesting the launch of the model is around the corner. The new Kia EV6 is expected to go on sale at the end of this quarter and will come to India as a completely built unit (CBU) or a full-import model. So, the Kia EV6 is likely to remain unchanged in terms of design, interior, features and performance and will be underpinned by the e-GMP platform.

The cabin of the Kia EV6 will get a dual-screen layout, including a standalone touchscreen for the infotainment system. The EV6 will also be equipped with connected car tech, an augmented reality heads-up display and Advanced Driver Assistance Safety Features (ADAS).
Now, we still don't have any idea of the powertrain the India-spec model will get as the car is offered with a range of configurations in the global markets. The range starts with a 58kWh battery pack that is offered in two configurations - rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup with 168 bhp single-motor, or in all-wheel drive (AWD) layout with dual-motor set-up that makes 235hp. There is also the larger 77.4 kWh battery pack that offers 225 bhp single-motor in RWD configuration, 321 bhp dual-motor in AWD configuration. Then, there is the range-topping, performance oriented GT variant with dual-motor AWD layout belting out around 578 bhp and 740 Nm of peak torque. We did drive the car and in our exclusive review, we spoke about how the car drives and yes, we did come back impressed. So, of course, we can't wait to get our hands on the car when it lands on Indian shores!
