V2L Systems - How Do They Help?

- V2G can increase your battery life.
- Bidirectional chargers which can both charge and discharge EVs
- V2L is a major step towards electronic-based travelling.
Electric vehicles have become a staple in society now. People have wholeheartedly embraced the concept of electric vehicles. Many companies are now looking to go fully electric. The market is being flooded with new ideas and innovations that can make electric vehicles better and more efficient. The V2L system is one such invention that has been making waves. It is pretty useful and has many applications if designed and used properly by car manufacturers.

What is V2L?
V2L stands for Vehicle-To-Load. The V2L is essentially a system that allows users to charge all kinds of electric devices external to the car. V2L ports are available in cars which allow customers to just plug in the equipment and start charging. This is a great use of electric vehicles if the vehicles are idle and the energy is not being used. This way, the whole system can act as a grid.
The V2G system
The V2G is a similar expansion to the V2L system. In this, the battery is directly connected to a grid which can power all the appliances present on the grid. A bidirectional charger is required for this system to work.
The V2H system
The V2H system is very similar to a V2G system. Instead of the energy from the battery being transported to a grid, the energy is directed towards the home itself. This allows EVs to function as self-sufficient batteries. The power can be enhanced by using solar panels on the rooftops.

Advantages of V2L
One of the most obvious advantages that come to mind happens to be the ease of a camping trip. If a group of people is travelling to a remote location, then technically, they can charge their equipment with the help of the V2L system.
The system can be very useful in case of any kind of danger. If an area is destroyed due to natural occurrences like tsunamis or earthquakes, then the EVs can be used to charge emergency supplies. The V2L function can also be used to send messages and information for rescue operations!

How to use V2L?
The user might need an external convertor or adapter for charging purposes. The appliances can simply be plugged into the ports that are present inside the vehicle, and then the process can move efficiently.
Limitations of V2L
The customer might need extra equipment in most cases for the system to work. The user might also need an EV that is compatible and can be used for this purpose.
One of the major problems with the V2L system is that the power supply is pretty low. This means that large appliances cannot be operated. But the system works well for smaller appliances. The wattage needs to be carefully noted before the customer ends up making any purchase.
