Volkswagen Polo Facelift launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

We had been talking about Volkswagen bringing the 2014 Polo facelift to India for quite some time; well, it is finally here. The company launched the new Polo with a starting price of Rs. 4.99 lakhs. It gets a new face and looks pretty good. Here are the key changes observed on the 2014 Volkswagen Polo facelift:
1) Exterior changes include a new front grille and bumper, new fog lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, new rear bumper and new head-lamps

2) The changes continue on the inside too. It now gets a sportier steering wheel, chrome accents, and voice command
3) The Polo will be available with the 1.2-litre MPI petrol and 1.5-litre diesel powertrain
4) The 1.2-litre MPI puts out 75bhp and 110Nm torques
5) The 1.5-litre TDI delivers 90bhp and 230Nm of torque
6) The new face will also be seen on the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and TDI, and also the Cross Polo. However, these cars will be available only from September, 2014.
7) Both, the 1.2-litre MPI in the GT TSI and the 1.5-litre TDI in the GT TDI, will a offer power output of 104bhp

8) The Cross Polo will also be powered by the 1.5-litre TDI engine
The introductory prices of the entire range are is as follows:

Polo 1.5 TDI - Rs. 6.27 to 7.37 lakhs
Cross Polo - Rs. 7.90 lakhs
Polo GT TDI - Rs. 7.99 lakhs
Polo GT TSI - Rs. 7.99 lakhs
Volkswagen hasn't really been able to cash in on the sales when it comes to their products and the Polo is a refreshing addition. The German manufacturer is looking at bringing new products to India, and we will most likely also see an expansion at the company's plant in Pune.
The Polo's localisation content for now stands at 65 - 70%, and the people at Volkswagen want to take this figure up to at least 85 - 90%. Though there are no concrete plans, Volkswagen is looking at producing the engines in India as well. That said, VW seems content with its progress for the time being. We will be sure to let you know about their future plans, as soon as we get a word. Till then, stay tuned!
