Volkswagen Taigun Bookings To Begin On August 18; Launch In September

- The Volkswagen Taigun's production & bookings will begin on the same day
- The new VW Taigun will be launched in the 3rd week of September 2021
- We expect the VW Taigun to be priced between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 18 lakh
Volkswagen India has confirmed that the company will begin series production of its highly anticipated compact SUV, Volkswagen Taigun on August 18, 2021, and that is when the company will also commence the bookings for the SUV. The Taigun is built on the company's new MQB-A0 IN platform, the same as the recently launch Skoda Kushaq compact SUV. We have already driven the SUV and you can find our detailed review on the carandbike website. Volkswagen has also confirmed that it will launch the new Taigun SUV around mid-September 2021.

Speaking with carandbike, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, "We start production in our Chakan plant on 18th August, we also start pre-bookings on the same day. In the 3rd week of September, we will do price announcement and start customer deliveries."

The Volkswagen Taigun is built on the MQB A0 platform, which also underpins the recently launched Skoda Kushaq
Visually, the Volkswagen Taigun is in line with the carmaker latest design language, featuring sharp edges and bold character lines, and a lot of chrome, especially on the top-spec GT variant. It also comes with premium features like LED headlights, LED daytime running lamps, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, end-to-end LED taillight with sporty black elements, and beefy cladding with chrome inserts, and faux skid plates.

The Taigun gets a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless charger, electric sunroof and more
Inside, the VW Taigun comes with a dual-tone cabin with a black and grey interior, featuring a 10-inch touchscreen display, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a fully digital instrument cluster. VW also offers optional body-coloured dash panelling, along with other features like wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless charger, electric sunroof, rear AC vents and more. On the safety front, the SUV comes with 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking camera, ABS, and 6 airbags among others.

The Volkswagen Taigun comes with two turbocharged petrol engine options - the 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. The former is tuned to make 113 bhp and 175 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre TSI unit, makes 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, while paired with a 6-speed manual and a 7-Speed DSG automatic transmission.
