Yamaha MT-09 SP Might Be Unveiled At EICMA 2017

- The Yamaha MT-09 SP might get a suspension upgrade
- The bike will be offered with a new colour scheme(s)
- There will be no mechanical changes
Like many two-wheeler manufacturers Yamaha will also be showcasing a few concepts and new motorcycles. One bike in particular has got us excited, which is the MT-09 SP. A few reports on the internet suggest that Yamaha just might showcase the MT-09 SP, which will be a slightly higher-specced variant of the company's MT-09 roadster. The complete details aren't available but we believe that the MT-09 SP will get a few changes here and there; one of them could be a new suspension set. The company could offer a set of fully-adjustable Ohlins suspension units at the front and at the rear. Yamaha might also offer a new colour scheme for the MT-09 SP, which is silver and blue carbon, the traditional SP colours for Yamaha.

There will be no mechanical changes. Yamaha will continue to offer the same 847 cc in-line 3 engine, which makes 113 bhp and 87.5 Nm of peak torque. Yamaha might also offer a quick-shifter on the MT-09 SP. Some internet reports also suggest that Yamaha has planned to introduce up to five bikes based on the MT-09.
Yamaha does sell the MT-09 in India, which is priced at Rs. 11.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). But whether it will get the MT-09 SP to India is a question whose answer only time can tell. Having said that, we would love Yamaha to get the MT-09 SP to India! The naked middleweight segment in India currently has the Ducati Monster 821, Kawasaki Z900, MV Agusta 800 and the newly launched Triumph Street Triple RS. A new and naked middleweight bike from Yamaha does sound like a good idea.
