Audi A3 sedan receives highest 2014 safety rating from IIHS

The India-bound Audi A3 sedan equipped with Audi pre sense front has earned a Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) rating in the 2014 Safety Rating from the Insurance for Highway Safety (IIHS). Moreover, the sedan has received an 'Advanced' rating for front crash prevention, which is the qualifier for the "+" portion of the TSP+ rating.
The A3 received 'Good' ratings for all crash tests, including Moderate Overlap Front Test, Side Test, Roof Strength Test, Head Restraints Test, and Small Overlap Front.
The all-new Audi A3 sedan will go on sale next month in US at a base MSRP of $29,900 (INR 17,90,412). The company will later launch the Audi A3 Cabriolet, A3 TDI clean diesel sedan and the performance-oriented S3 version in the fall of 2014, while the A3 Sportback e-tron gasoline electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in 2015. For the first time, the A3 will be offered with features like MMI technology, Audi drive select, 4G LTE connectivity and Bang & Olufsen audio.
Other advanced features to be offered with the A3 sedan will be standard Audi pre sense basic system and an optional advanced technology package, which includes Audi active lane assist, Audi pre sense front and adaptive cruise control with stop and go. However, many of the aforementioned features might not be offered with the vehicle, when it comes to India.
