Pope Francis Harley-Davidson fetches $327,000 at an auction
Highlights
Pope Francis' 2013 Harley-Davidson Super Dyna Glide was bought by a private seller for about $327,000 at an auction in Paris. The story goes that Willie Davidson, grandson of a Harley-Davidson founder, had given the 1584cc Harley to the pope a year ago to mark the company's 110th anniversary.
There was also a Harley-Davidson motorcycle leather jacket signed by the pontiff up for auction and it was sold for a whopping $77,485 including fees. Money from the sale of the two items went to benefit a hostel and soup kitchen at the Termini train station in Rome.
The Dyna Glide costs around $13000 but since the Pope had signed his name in Italian, the bike went for that 'holy' price. It is indeed a collectors pride to have something etched by the Holiest man alive on something that is considered the holy grail of motorcycles.
