Buckle up, because 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years yet for electric cars in India. The EV space is set for a major boost, with almost every major automaker planning new launches. From affordable electric SUVs to premium, high-end models, there will be plenty of options for buyers. Here’s a look at the electric cars expected to launch in India in 2026.
1) Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara marks the brand’s first entry into the mass-market electric SUV segment. Scheduled to go on sale in India in January 2026, the model has already completed its media drive previews, giving us a good idea of what’s on offer.
The e-Vitara will be available with two battery options — a 48.8 kWh pack and a larger 61.1 kWh unit. The bigger battery is claimed to deliver a driving range of up to 543 kilometres on a single charge. Prices are expected to range between ₹17 lakh and ₹26 lakh, depending on the variant and battery choice.
2) Tata Punch EV (Facelift)
Tata is set to update the Punch EV early in 2026. The facelifted version will get refreshed styling along with additional features inside the cabin. It will continue to be Tata’s most affordable electric SUV, offering two battery options with claimed ranges of around 315 km and 421 km.
The updated Punch EV is also expected to receive new technology features inspired by Tata’s newer electric models. Inside, it should feel more premium, with a larger infotainment touchscreen, a high-quality audio system with Dolby Atmos, and refreshed upholstery to improve overall cabin comfort.

3) Tata Sierra EV
Following the strong response to the ICE version of the Sierra, expectations from the electric version are high. The Tata Sierra EV is expected to arrive around mid-2026 and will likely share its platform with the upcoming Harrier EV.
In terms of design, it will closely resemble the combustion engine Sierra. EV-specific touches include a sealed-off front end, flush door handles, and redesigned tail lamps. With at least two battery options, the Sierra EV is expected to offer a range of around 450–500 km, with prices likely to fall between ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh.
4) Toyota Urban Cruiser EV
Toyota is also preparing to launch the Urban Cruiser EV in India, essentially its version of the Maruti e-Vitara but with distinct styling elements. These design changes will help differentiate it from the Maruti sibling. The SUV is expected to be launched by March 2026.
It will use the larger 61 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of up to 400 km, and will be available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. Prices are expected to be in the range of ₹18 lakh to ₹26 lakh.
5) Kia Syros EV
Kia is gearing up to launch the Syros EV around mid-2026. Positioned as a more budget-friendly electric SUV, prices are expected to start at around ₹14 lakh, making it one of the more affordable EV launches of the year.
The Syros EV will largely mirror the design of the regular Syros, retaining its boxy shape and tall stance, but with EV-specific styling updates. It is expected to come with two battery options — a 42 kWh pack offering around 300 km of range, and a larger 51.4 kWh battery delivering close to 490 km. Features are likely to include a large touchscreen, ventilated seats, and Level 2 ADAS for added safety.

6) Tata Avinya EV
The Avinya is Tata’s most ambitious electric launch planned for 2026. This premium electric SUV is expected to arrive towards the end of the year and will mark Tata’s entry into the luxury EV segment.
The Avinya is a large SUV, measuring close to 5 metres in length, and is based on an all-new platform designed specifically for electric vehicles. Pricing is expected to start at around ₹40 lakh and could go significantly higher, making it the most expensive Tata vehicle to date.
7) BMW iX3
BMW has unveiled the new iX3, which becomes the first production model to be based on the brand’s all-new Neue Klasse electric platform.
The second-generation, all-electric midsize luxury SUV is expected to be launched in India later this year.
The new iX3 comes equipped with a 108.7 kWh battery pack. On a full charge, it offers a claimed driving range of up to 805 km (WLTP). Power is delivered through a dual-motor setup producing 469 bhp and 645 Nm of torque, paired with all-wheel drive. BMW claims a 0–100 kmph sprint in 4.9 seconds.
In terms of competition, the iX3 is likely to take on rivals such as the Audi Q6 e-tron and the Porsche Macan EV, with the Mercedes-Benz EQB also entering the conversation. The first-generation iX3 was never launched in India, primarily due to its high cost as a completely built unit. This time around, local assembly at BMW’s Chennai facility appears more likely, although pricing is still expected to be close to the ₹1 crore mark.
8) BYD Atto 2
The BYD Atto 2 is a compact electric SUV that would slot below the Atto 3 in the brand’s Indian line-up, should it be introduced here. The model made its debut at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show and has since gone on sale in several European markets. It is expected to arrive in India in the first half of 2026.
Globally, the Atto 2 is currently offered with a 45 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of up to 312 km on a single charge. Power comes from a 175 bhp electric motor driving the front wheels. If the India-spec model remains unchanged, the Atto 2 measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height, placing it in the same segment as the Hyundai Creta EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.

9) Hyundai Ioniq 9
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is a full-size, three-row electric SUV that sits at the top of Hyundai’s Ioniq EV range. The model was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in India and is expected to go on sale later this year.
Built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Ioniq 9 shares its underpinnings with models such as the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Kia’s EV range, including the EV9. Dimensionally, the Ioniq 9 measures 5,060 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,790 mm in height, along with a generous 3,130 mm wheelbase. These dimensions make it slightly larger and more spacious than its Kia EV9 sibling.
The Ioniq 9 is powered by a 110.3 kWh battery pack and is offered with multiple drivetrain options. The top-spec version delivers a WLTP-certified range of up to 620 km on a full charge.
10) MG S5 EV
The MG S5 EV is positioned as the global successor to the MG ZS EV. With the ZS EV having established itself as a popular electric SUV, the S5 EV could serve as a capable replacement. Although the model was displayed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, MG has yet to confirm its India launch timeline. That said, it is expected to arrive later this year.
In European markets, the S5 EV is offered with two battery options. Entry-level variants get a 49 kWh battery, while higher trims feature a larger 64 kWh unit. Rear-wheel drive is standard across the range, with MG claiming a WLTP range of up to 480 km, depending on the variant. For reference, the India-spec ZS EV comes with a 50.3 kWh battery and offers an ARAI-certified range of 461 km.
11) VinFast VF3
Following the expected launch of the VF6 and VF7 SUVs, VinFast is likely to introduce additional models in India, including a small electric vehicle. The VinFast VF3 is the brand’s smallest SUV currently on sale. Measuring 3,190 mm in length, it is slightly longer than the MG Comet. The VF3 is a four-seater, but features just two doors, similar to the Comet.
The VF3 is expected to be powered by an 18.6 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of over 200 km. Like MG, VinFast may also introduce a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme. The VF3 is expected to launch in India in the first half of 2026.

12) VinFast Limo Green
In addition to the entry-level VF3, VinFast is also eyeing the electric MPV segment with the Limo Green, which was unveiled in global markets earlier this year. In terms of size, the Limo Green is comparable to the Toyota Innova Hycross, measuring 4,740 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width and 1,728 mm in height, with a 2,840 mm wheelbase. By comparison, the Innova Hycross measures 4,755 mm long and sits on a 2,850 mm wheelbase, making the VinFast slightly shorter but wider.
This places the Limo Green above rivals such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV and even the more premium BYD eMax 7.
Internationally, the MPV is equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack, paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 201 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. Charging support includes 11 kW AC charging and 80 kW DC fast charging, with VinFast claiming a 10–70 per cent charge in just 30 minutes. The company also quotes a NEDC range of 450 km on a full charge.
