2015 Volkswagen Passat Revealed

It was only a few weeks back that Volkswagen released a teaser image of the new Passat, and now the company has revealed the first images of the 2015 version. From what we can see, Volkswagen has done a good job when it comes to the looks of the car. It hasn't said much about the car, but gave us a heads-up when the first teaser was shown.
The new Passat sheds up to 85 kg as compared to its predecessor. In fact, it is 2mm shorter too but the wheelbase is 79mm longer, which translates to more space. The German car manufacturer achieved this feat by moving the front wheels forward by 29mm and the rear wheels a further 17mm away on the rear. It also sits lower at 1456mm compared to the exiting model's height of 1470mm. The boot capacity also adds 21 litres, thus taking the tally up to 586 litres.

Now, the engines. There is no official word about them but we think that the sedan will be offered with two petrol and two diesel engines. The petrol powertrain line-up might comprise of the 1.4-litre TSI and 1.8-litre TSI. While the diesel options might include the 1.6-litre TDI and the 2.0-litre TDI.
Considering the weight loss that the Passat has undergone, the new car will not only be more economical but also a tad bit more sporty. This That said, the 2015 Volkswagen Passat will be the first Passat to be also offered with a plug-in hybrid version, so expect the combined range of the car to go above the 900 km mark.
The 2015 Euro-spec Passat gets LED head-lamps and tail-lamps, a TT-derived digital instrument cluster and a head-up display. Other features include assistance systems like Trailer Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, City Emergency Braking, and Park Assist.
