2018 Lambretta V-Special Unveiled

- The Lambretta V-Special is the first step in the brand's resurrection
- The new Lambretta scooters are offered in three engine options
- Designed by SISKA and with inputs from the Lambretta community
The Lambretta V-Special is an all-new scooter under the iconic Lambretta name, and the first Lambretta scooter of the 21st century. The inimitable classic design is created by renowned Austrian design firm KISKA, which designs the latest KTM bikes and the radical Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen, in collaboration with the Italian Lambretta community. The V-Special was unveiled at the Lambretta 70th Anniversary Rally last month. It is a modern interpretation of classic design featuring latest technology, and is offered in three engine options and multiple colour shades. The V-Special is available in three types - V50, V125 and V200.

The V-Special is available in three engine options
As the name suggests, the V50 is powered by a 49.5 cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine making just 3.5 bhp and a maximum speed of 45 kmph. The V125 gets a 124.7 cc engine making 10 bhp and 9.2 Nm while the VS200 is powered by a 169 cc engine which makes 12 bhp of power and 12.5 Nm of torque. The V50 gets a rear drum brake, but both the 125 and 200 get disc brakes at both ends. The engines are Euro 4 compliant and get fuel-injection and CVT gearboxes.

The Lambretta V125 and V200 feature fuel-injected engines
The Lambretta line of scooters was initially manufactured in Milan, Italy by the Italian manufacturing company Innocenti. In India, Lambretta scooters has had a storied past, when the Automobile Products of India (API) started manufacturing the first scooters in India under the Lambretta brand from the 1950s. Scooters were initially assembled from Innocenti kits and sold under the Lambretta name and later rebranded as MAC and Lamby scooters during the 1970s in India. Declining sales due to competition and recession resulted in the Lambretta-origin scooters go out of production in the 1980s.
