2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Spotted Testing, To Debut At Geneva Motor Show

- New Generation A-Class is based on the MFA 2 platform
- The hatchback grows larger in dimensions while packing in more tech
- The new generation A-Class will launch in India next year
Earlier this year, a top official of Mercedes-Benz shared the first images and other details of the new generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, based on the next generation MFA 2 platform, will see the hatchback grow larger in dimensions while packing in more tech and power over its current generation. While we have spotted a number of spy shots of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class recently, the latest images show two specifications of the new generation hatchback that will debut next year at the Geneva Motor Show and yes, it is coming to India by the end of 2018.

The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class will come with major design and cosmetic changes. As mentioned earlier, the new model is based on the MFA 2 platform which uses aluminum for lighter kerb weight and higher rigidity. It is also expected that the new generation A-Class will come with a larger wheelbase that the current generation providing extra leg room for its passengers.
As far the design of the new model goes, it gets swooping bonnet, sharper LED headlights, and a wide diamond grille. The ORVMs are further away from the A-pillar, with redesigned front and rear bumpers, while LED taillights are wider. You can read more about the design of the new generation A-Class here.

Now, inside the new generation A-Class are two digital screens, one for instruments and the other one is for the infotainment. On the centre console, the trim panels get the HVAC vents along with a range of buttons. The steering also gets mounted buttons to offer the driver added control over the car.

Under the hood, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class will get both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine will come in two iterations- a 1.6-litre and a 2.0-litre, while the diesel engine will also come in either 2.0-litre engine or a 1.5-litre engine option. Transmission duties will be taken care by a 9-Speed DCT gearbox. Reports also suggest that a 6-Speed manual transmission will also be on offer.
