2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 250: Price Expectation

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 ABS is all set to be launched and the 250 cc offering marks the return of the Japanese manufacturer in this space. Now, the last time Suzuki sold a 250 cc bike in India, it was the very capable albeit it too expensive Inazuma 250 with a parallel-twin motor. Despite a price correction, the brand could not do good volumes and had to be pulled out of the market. The Gixxer SF 250 then, comes as a significant offering that could be a gamechanger for the company. Pricing will play a key role in how the Gixxer 250 fares in the market and here's what we think will be the correct sticker price for the all new motorcycle.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 will be loaded on the equipment

The 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 ABS competes against a bunch of offerings in this space primarily the Honda CBR 250R, Yamaha Fazer 25 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200. While the  Pulsar will continue to remain the most competitively priced here, we expect the Gixxer SF 250 to be priced around Rs. 1.70-1.75 lakh (ex-showroom) that will position it between the Fazer and the CBR. At that price point, the motorcycle is substantially cheaper than the CBR while offering similar power output and equipment onboard. The Fazer and the Pulsar make far less power from their respective motors in comparison.

At that price point, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 will still remain attainable, serving as the next logical upgrade for the current Gixxer owners in the Suzuki family. It also bridges the gap between the larger GSX models and the entry-level Gixxer 155 series that seems too big at the moment.

For the money, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 appears as a well packaged offering. The bike gets a full-LED headlamp, clip-on handlebars, digital instrument console, split seats, double barrel exhaust and and 17-inch double spoke alloy wheels. The Gixxer 250 uses telescopic forks up front and a monoshock unit at the rear, while braking duties are handled by disc brakes at the front and rear with dual-channel ABS.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is powered by a 249 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine tuned for 26 bhp and 22.6 Nm of peak torque, while paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has a kerb weight of 161 kg.
