2021 BMW R 1250 GS: All You Need To Know

- BMW R 1250 GS, GS Adventure gets minor updates, including new colours
- Both bikes get updated electronics and a few new features
- "40 Years of GS" special edition models to be offered in India as well
The 2021 BMW R 1250 GS and BMW R 1250 GS Adventure come with some updates, including new colours and updated electronics. The 2021 BMW R 1250 GS is priced at the same Rs. 20.45 lakh (Ex-showroom) as before, while the R 1250 GS Adventure is now slightly more expensive (by Rs. 5,000), costing Rs. 22.40 lakh (Ex-showroom). Both the R 1250 GS and the R 1250 GS Adventure come as completely built units (CBUs), and the prices announced are introductory and expected to be revised in the coming months. The 2021 BMW R 1250 GS get minor updates, including new colours and updated electronics
New Colours
The 2021 BMW R 1250 GS and GS Adventure get two new colour options, Style Triple Black and Style Rally. And this time, the "40 Years of GS" special edition colour schemes will also be offered on sale in India. Prices for the special edition livery (which features a unique yellow and black paint scheme) are yet to be announced.

The 2021 GS models get adaptive cornering lights along with other feature updates
Cornering Lights
The updated R 1250 GS range gets new adaptive cornering lights, with the headlight reflector able to swivel in a 30 degree arc, so when the bike negotiates a corner and the headlight is on dipped beam, the headlight pivots and aims the beam to the direction of where the bike is headed. The light can also adjust the height with a pillion on board.

The electronics package gets updated for 2021, and the GS models get standard heated seats and heated grips
Updated Integral ABS Pro
Both variants get a new integral ABS Pro Mode, which is a linked braking system, with the hand lever activating both front and rear brakes simultaneously. The brake pedal only activates the rear brakes. The Integral ABS system uses a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) to optmise braking performance for both on-road and off-road riding.

Updated Electronics
The Hill Start Control (HSC) has been updated on the BMW R 1250 GS to HSC Pro. In addition to the road and rain riding modes, the 2021 R 1250 GS series gets Pro riding modes as well. These include dynamic, dynamic pro, enduro and enduro pro. The 'dynamic pro' and 'enduro pro' riding modes further get individualisation options to set the motorcycle to individual requirements.

Same Engine
Both models are still powered by the same 1,254cc boxer engine featuring BMW's ShiftCam variable valve timing technology. The boxer-twin engine now makes 134 bhp at 7,750 rpm and 143 Nm at 6,250 rpm and is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. The GS Adventure model gets more suspension travel, larger fuel tank, and also comes with widened endure footrests, and standard tyre pressure monitoring system.
