Highlights

  • The design of the Suzuki S-Cross is a big departure from its predecessor.
  • It looks bolder and more SUVish now and even the cabin has been updated.
  • It gets the 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine under its hood.

The 2022 Suzuki S-Cross has made its global debut and this time around it has done away with its 'SX4' prefix. The new Suzuki S-Cross is a huge departure from its predecessor in terms of design and it looks more muscular and grown-up. The new S-Cross adopts a larger piano black front grille flanked by three-point LED headlights building up on its urban looks. The chunkier wheel arches with bold plastic body cladding in black also complement its crossover looks.

The Suzuki S-Cross gets a new 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

At the rear, the Suzuki S-Cross gets clear and wider taillights and the bumper too gets a chunkier design and looks more bulbous sporting that bold skid plate. That said, the new Suzuki S-Cross still is a soft-roader with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, but it looks more capable for off-roading with its more SUVish looks. However, that comes as a surprise because the crossover is pretty much the same when it comes to dimensions. It is 4,300 mm long, 1,785 mm wide, and 1,585 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. These measurements are identical to those of the second-gen SX4 S-Cross.

On the inside, you still get to see some carried-over elements like the air-con vents and switch knobs, but overall the cabin has been updated.

On the inside, you still get to see some carried-over elements like the air-con vents and switch knobs. But largely, the cabin has been updated as well. Then, there is a new standalone 9.0-inch touchscreen positioned at the top of the centre console and of course it supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but everything else looks very familiar. Be it the climate controls, drive mode selector, or the gear lever, we have seen these before on its predecessor.

There is the Suzuki Swift sourced 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol motor coupled with the mild-hybrid system under its hood.

Under the hood, there is the Suzuki Swift sourced 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol motor coupled with the mild-hybrid system and the powertrain develops 125 bhp and 235 Nm of peal torque. The new Suzuki S-Cross clocks triple-digit speeds in 9.5 seconds and 10.2 seconds with the four-wheel-drive system. Then, gearbox options also includes a six-speed torque-converter automatic unit along with the six-speed manual transmission as already mentioned above.
