All-New Tata Sierra SUV Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs. 11.49 Lakh

- Introductory starting price of the Tata Sierra SUV is Rs. 11.49 lakh

- Booking will begin from December 16, while deliveries will start from January 15
The Tata Sierra SUV has finally gone on sale in India at an introductory price starting at Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This marks the return of the Sierra moniker, which was the company’s first SUV for India, after 22 years. The new-gen Tata Sierra will be offered as both – an internal combustion engine (ICE) model, which has been launched today, and an electric version that will come in 2026.
Tata Sierra Variants & Bookings
The SUV will be offered in a total of seven variants, or personas as Tata likes to call them – Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished, and Accomplished+. Booking for the new Sierra will commence from December 16, 2025, while deliveries will begin from January 15, 2026.

Tata Sierra Platform
The new Tata Sierra is built on the company’s A.R.G.O.S Architecture. The company says it’s a new multi-energy SUV platform built for real capability, strong safety and efficient space use. The platform supports multiple body styles, wheelbases and petrol, diesel, CNG and hybrid powertrains, along with FWD and AWD setups. The architecture is engineered for modern chassis tech and improved vehicle dynamics and uses a digital-first backbone with updated electronics and high-speed data systems.

Now, the Tata Sierra name carries huge emotional weight for anyone who grew up around cars in the ’90s, and the carmaker has tried to balance that nostalgia with a thoroughly modern SUV package. Instead of a ladder-on-frame construction, you get monocoque architecture, and while the old Sierra came as either a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) SUV, or an all-wheel Drive (AWD) model, the new-gen Sierra will get a front-wheel drive (FWD) option.

Sierra offers large 19-inch alloy wheels and flush-fitted door handles, while the rear gets a clean flat tailgate
Also, the Sierra of the past was a 3-door SUV with large rear glass panels on either side, the new one is a proper 5-door SUV. Having said that, Tata has managed to recreate that look with some smart design tricks. Tata made use of large windows with flush glazing and glossy black treatment for the sills and C-pillar to create the impression of extensive rear glass.

The new Sierra stays faithful to the original’s upright stance and boxy profile, but everything else is contemporary. You get Tata’s new Light Saber connected DRLs and LED taillights, and what that company calls Night Saber Bi-LED Booster Headlamp. The SUV gets a broad grille and heavy cladding with a faux skid plate for the bumper, along with large 19-inch alloy wheels and flush-fitted door handles, while the rear gets a clean flat tailgate.

Tata Sierra Cabin Features & Tech
Inside, the focus is clearly on comfort and premiumness, and cabin space is a big part of this package. You get a 5-seater layout with light-themed, leatherette + fabric combination upholstery with dual-tone treatment and thigh extenders from the front seats. At 2730 mm, the Sierra’s wheelbase is the best in the segment, and Tata has ensured that the occupants get a roomier experience. The cabin uses simple, soft-touch materials and a straightforward layout, and you get a 622-litre boot which can be expanded to 1257-litre with the second-row seats folded.
Greater focus has also been given to the tech on offer – the highlight being Tata’s triple-screen TheatrePro setup, which includes a digital cluster (10.25-inch), a large central touchscreen (12.3-inch), and a separate passenger display (12.3-inch). Tata is also offering iRA connected car tech with 5G connectivity, AR head-up display with multicolour guide, and in-built navigation, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sierra also offers the option for Level 2 ADAS with 22 functions, along with aan HD 360-degree camera system and blind spot monitor.

Of course, you get creature comforts like ventilated front seats, the segment’s largest panoramic sunroof (1525 mm X 925 mm), dual-zone climate control, a JBL audio system with Dolby Atmos, a 360-degree camera, connected-car functions, and Level 2 ADAS on the top trims. And yes, Tata is also offering its Arcade Suit – 30+ curated apps for entertainment, gaming, streaming and browsing from passenger infotainment & Central Infotainment Screens, something that until now we only saw on Tata’s EV models.

Tata Sierra Powertrain & Transmission
There is a lot to talk about powertrain options as well. Like its rivals, the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, the new Sierra also comes with three engine options – 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.5-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The NA petrol is a new motor under the Revotron range that makes 105 bhp and 145 Nm of peak torque, while mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCA) transmission. This will be offered with all variants of the Sierra except for the range-topping Accomplished+ trim.
The turbo petrol version is the all-new, much anticipated 1.5-litre TGDi engine, tuned to make 158 bhp and 255 Nm of peak torque. This one is only offered with an automatic torque converter unit and will only be offered with the higher-spec Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+ variants. Finally, we have the 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine that makes 116 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. Here you have the option for both a 6-speed manual transmission and an automatic transmission, and you can have this diesel engine with every variant of the Sierra.

Depending on the variants, Tata is also offering drive modes and three Terrain modes – Normal, Wet and Rough. There is also a new suspension system featuring Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD) that adapts to road conditions to improve the ride and handling.
