Auto Expo 2018: Hero Duet And Maestro Edge 125 cc Scooters Unveiled

Hero MotoCorp has revealed the new Maestro Edge and Duet 125 cc scooters at the Auto Expo 2018. The all-new models are based on the 110 cc versions of the Duet and Maestro models, and get cosmetic upgrades as well as feature upgrades, along with a brand new engine. In fact, the engine too is an expanded version of the 110 cc Maestro and has been tweaked to offer better low-end power for higher urban usability. The new Hero Duet 125 and Maestro Edge 125 will be going on sale in the second quarter of the 2018-19 financial year, as per the company.

Hero Maestro Edge 125 shares its engine with the Duet 125
The 125 cc segment has gained a lot of momentum lately and the new Hero Duet 125 and Maestro Edge 125 aims to tap into this potential. The scooters get cosmetic upgrades while keeping the design familiar, while the feature list includes digital display with the analog instrument console and a scooter first, idle-start-stop-system (i3S system). The new tech, already seen on Hero motorcycles, has been introduced to offer improved efficiency on the new 125 cc offerings.
The Hero Maestro Edge 125 and Duet 125 use the same 125 cc single-Energy cylinder Boost engine tuned to produce 8.7 bhp at 6750 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque at 5000 rpm. The scooter also comes with optional front disc brake and Integrated Braking System (IBS). Other bits including a side stand indicator, service reminder, pass switch, external fuel filling and more. Hero's new scooters have been completely developed in-house at the company's Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur.

The 125 cc scooter segment has suddenly seen an overwhelming amount of offerings including the Honda Grazia, Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa, along with the newly launched offerings including the TVS NTorq 125 and Aprilia SR 125. Hero certainly wants its presence in the fast growing segment and will be introducing the new scooters towards the end of this year in the market.
