Benelli 502S Cruiser Registered In China

- Benelli had unveiled the 402S at the 2017 EICMA show in Milan
- The Benelli 502S has the same design language as the 402S
- Benelli 502S to be powered by 500 cc parallel-twin engine
Benelli's parent company, the Qianjiang Group has registered a photograph alongside specifications for what appears to be an upcoming cruiser motorcycle with China's type-approval authorities. The design of the bike in the photograph appears to be quite similar to the Benelli 402S which was showcased at last year's EICMA show in Milan. The 402S showcased at last year's EICMA show is powered by a 399 cc, parallel-twin engine, rated to make maximum power of 38.9 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. And now, Benelli seems to gearing up to introduce a slightly bigger engine version of the cruiser, which looks quite similar to the Ducati Diavel.

In India, Benelli has tied up with a new partner, Hyderbad-based Mahavir Group's Aadishwar Auto Ride International (AARI), and in a recent interaction with Carandbike, Benelli Global's Chief Marketing Officer Dante Bustos had outlined the Italian brand's future plans. One of the plans was to introduce a range of different engine variants under one brand. So, the adventure tourer TRK series will be introduced with different engine options, as will the modern classic Imperiale, and the Scrambler Leoncino. From the latest images, it looks like Benelli will be following a similar path with its upcoming cruiser line as well.

Visually, the Benelli 502S looks identical to the 402S unveiled at last year's EICMA show, but the brakes seem to be radially-mounted calipers and of higher-spec on the 502S. The 500 cc twin engine makes 46.9 bhp, and top speed is listed at 160 kmph. We're not sure at this stage of any other details, but the engine seems to be the same parallel-twin unit which will be used in the TRK 502, as well as the Leoncino. More details will be revealed once Benelli unveils its range of upcoming bikes at this year's EICMA show in November.
