BMW X7 M50d Dark Shadow: All You Need To Know

- Only the range-topping BMW X7 M50d is offered in the Dark Shadow Edition.
- BMW will only manufacture 500 units of the X7 Dark Shadow Edition.

The BMW X7 M50d 'Dark Shadow' Edition has been launched in India priced at Rs. 2.02 crore, (ex-showroom) and it's the first special edition model of the flagship SUV. The production of the BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition will be limited to just 500 units worldwide and it will be manufactured at the Bavarian carmaker's Spartanburg plant, in South Carolina, USA. BMW says that the new Dark Shadow edition can be combined with all engines offered on the BMW X7, however, in India BMW is offering it only in the range-topping M50d trim.

- Only the range-topping BMW X7 M50d is available exclusively in the Dark Shadow edition and that M is the nomenclature indicates that it's a performance-oriented version of the SUV.
- Styled by the company's exclusive customisation division- BMW Individual, the biggest highlight on the new X7 Dark Shadow Edition is the special paint finish, which is called Frozen Arctic Grey metallic. In fact, this is the first time that BMW has used such a paint finish in the grey shade, and it plans to introduce more variations as part of the optional package in future, not just for the X7, but also for the X6 and X5.

- The new limited edition BMW X7 Dark Shadow gets black exterior elements that complement the new colour. Upfront, the massive kidney grille is finished in dark chrome along with the side window surrounds, the covers of the B and C columns and the exterior mirror base which are also finished in black. In fact, the air intakes, and the tailpipe covers of the exhaust system are also finished in black chrome.
- The BMW X7 Edition Dark Shadow also comes with a set of 22-inch M light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design with a Jet-Black matte finish, and an M sports exhaust system.
- On the inside, the limited-edition model also comes in either six or seven-seater configurations with electrically adjustable comfort seats with memory function for driver and front passenger.

The BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition gets Merino full leather upholstery with two tone Night Blue/Black interior
- The cabin is draped in Individual Merino full leather upholstery finished in two-tone Night Blue/Black theme with contrasting seams. The theme is further accentuated by the BMW Individual roof liner in Night Blue with Alcantara finish.
- The centre console is finished in Piano Black shade and also features the signature crystal gear lever. The rest of the cabin features are similar to the M Sport variant of the SUV.
- Under the hood, it gets the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine mated to an eight-speed step-tronic sport automatic transmission.

The special Frozen Arctic Grey metallic paint finish is complemented with black exterior elements
- In this variant, the engine is tuned to churn out around 400 bhp and 760 Nm of peak torque helping the SUV to clock triple-digit speeds in just 5.4 seconds.
- The BMW X7 is offered in two other variants- the X7 30d is powered by the same 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder, twin-turbo diesel engine which churns out 260 bhp and 620 Nm of peak torque. The 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine in the X7 40i belts out 335 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque. Both motors are mated to an eight-speed steptronic gearbox as standard.
