BYD India Expands Network To Retail The e6 MPV, Appoints 6 Dealers Covering 8 Cities

- The 8 cities have been chosen as they as key EV markets in India
- BYD already retails electric buses in India & now is now selling e-cars
- The BYD e6 electric MPV will be sold only in the Indian B2B segment
BYD India has announced the expansion of its dealership network across the country as the company begins the sale of its e6 electric MPV. The Chinese automaker said it has opened outlets in key strategic EV markets that will be run by six dealers across eight cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai, New Delhi and Vijayawada. BYD is headquartered in Chennai in India. The dealerships promise a holistic experience to customers and will offer sales and service for the electric MPV. The new BYD e6 though is restricted for sale to the B2B segment.

BYD has appointed six dealers who will be running 8 outlets located in cities
Shrirang Joshi, the Sales Head of Electric Passenger Vehicle - BYD India said, "We have been focusing on strengthening our presence in the country and the expansion of our dealer network will enable us to take our all new e6, the premium pure electric MPV closer to our B2B customers. Our dealerships, while providing focused sales consultancy as per business requirements, will also ensure that customers get to experience our products which offer maximum value to their business and better total cost of ownership. Our goal is to ensure that our customers feel empowered by associating with BYD India. We are witnessing an emerging demand for premium eMPV segment with a diversified customer base and are confident that the premium eMPV can match all their needs to provide a better experience."

This is BYD's first passenger car to be sold in India. The company has been selling electric buses for a while
BYD has had its presence in India for a while now and the company has been selling electric buses. The BYD electric buses have been popular in Himachal Pradesh among other northern states, climbing up to 3,980 metres in the Himalayas. BYD says its electric buses have covered over 30 million km in India and helped save carbon emissions worth 31,250 tonnes.

The new BYD e6 electric MPV uses the firm's Blade battery technology packing a 71.7 kWh lithium-ion unit. The model promises a range of 520 km on a single charge in the city and a combined output of 415 km. Power output is a modest 94 bhp and 180 Nm of peak torque with a top speed of 130 kmph. The e6 can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent using a DC fast charger in 35 minutes. The model will cater to fleet operators and is the first electric MPV to go on sale in the county.
