BYD Rolls Out Its 13 Millionth New Energy Vehicle

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) has achieved a new production milestone, having manufactured a total of 13 million new energy vehicles (NEVs). The milestone vehicle – marking the 13 millionth unit – was the U7 sedan from BYD’s premium sub-brand, Yangwang, which rolled off the assembly line at the company’s plant in China.

BYD marked its first major milestone in May 2021 by producing its one millionth new energy vehicle. By December 2022, the company had tripled that figure, reaching 3 million units. This continued, with BYD surpassing the 5 million milestone in September 2023, followed by 6 million units just two months later in November 2023. In March 2024, the automaker announced it had rolled out 7 million NEVs from its Jinan facility in China. By November 2024, total production had reached 10 million, and the latest figure now stands at 13 million units.
In the Indian market, BYD’s most recent electric vehicle launch is the Sealion 7, which starts at Rs 48.90 lakh. In addition to the Sealion 7, the company offers the Seal sedan, priced from Rs 41 lakh; the Atto 3 compact SUV, starting at Rs 24.99 lakh; and the eMax 7 MPV, starting at Rs 26.90 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom and represent the base variants.
