Car Sales August 2021: Skoda Sells 3,824 Vehicles; Sees 24% Growth Over July 2021

- Skoda's total sales stood at 3,824 units in August 2021
- Skoda witnessed 24% growth as against 3,080 vehicles sold in July 2021
- Compared to 1,003 units sold in August 2020 YoY sales grew 282%
Skoda Auto India has released the monthly sale numbers for August 2021, during which the company's total sales stood at 3,824 units. Compared to the 3,080 vehicles the company sold in July 2021, Skoda India witnessed a month-on-month (MoM) growth of 24 per cent in August 2021. However, as against August 2020, when the company's total sales stood at 1,003 units, Skoda witnessed a massive year-on-year (YoY) growth of 282 per cent. However, we do need to consider the fact that last year in August Skoda did not have the Kushaq on sale, which is right now its best-selling model. This means the growth is simply an anomaly.

Currently the Skoda Kushaq accounts for more than the combined sales of the company's rest of the models
In July 2021, Skoda Auto India sold 1822 units of the new Kushaq compact SUV, whereas the combined sales from the Rapid, Octavia and Superb stood at 1,258 units. While the brake up for August is still not out yet, we expect the Skoda Kushaq to again surpass the combined sales of the company's rest of the models. This is mainly considering the fact that Skoda commenced the deliveries of the models with the 1.5-litre TSI engine this month.
