2016 is an important year for Ducati. This is the year when Ducati turned 90. And to celebrate the same, the legendary Italian motorcycle manufacturer has selected 7 representatives from a potential pool of 3,000 people to ride across the world in its honour. These seven candidates have been chosen on the basis of their appetite for adventure, their riding abilities, their editorial and photography abilities and above all long-distance travel experience. You would be pleased to know that Vir Nakai, ace motorcyclist and the owner of Helmet Stories, a wonderful travel blog and a motorcycle travel company, is one of the seven finalists who will be a part of the Ducati entourage that will ride across the world.
(Shortlisted Riders training at DRE Enduro in Tuscany, Italy)The seven finalists were extensively trained at the Castello di Nipozzano, in Tuscany, Italy. It is a property spanning over 600 acres and hosts the DRE Enduro, a Ducati riding academy where one can learn technical skills and off-road riding tips and tricks under the supervision of experienced and qualified riders, led by Beppe Gualini, who has participated in the legendary Dakar Rally. Ducati staff examined the shortlisted 14 candidates, who were tested on the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro and on basic mechanical skills. Out of these 7 were selected to represent Ducati for the Globetrotter ride that will see these 7 people riding across the world to Europe, Russia, Japan, USA and many other countries.
Vir Nakai will be starting the Ducati Globetrotter ride from the Borgo Panigale factory, the home of Ducati motorcycles and will ride all the way to Moscow, Russia for the first leg, carrying the Ducati torch and passing it on to the next Globetrotter 90th rider. We congratulate him on being selected for the Globetrotter 90th ride and wish him the very best for his ride from Italy to Russia.
