Ford To Launch Aspire Subcompact Sedan With An Automatic Gearbox

- Ford likely to launch the Aspire with 6-speed torque converter gearbox
- Launch likely to happen in the coming months
- Ford recently launched the Figo with the 6-speed automatic gearbox
Ford India recently launched the Figo hatchback with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and now the company is likely to introduce the same gearbox on the Aspire and launch the new variants soon. Ford had stopped offering an automatic gearbox on the Figo and the Aspire in early 2020. From what we understand, Ford will offer the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox only on the petrol models of the Aspire. On the Figo hatchback, the AT is offered on the Titanium and Titanium+ trims, which are the only two trims on offer.

Ford claims that the Figo with the new automatic gearbox has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 16 kmpl. One can expect similar fuel efficiency figure for the Aspire as well. The 6-speed AT comes with a new Sport Mode that is claimed to offer faster gearshifts for more responsive driving, while the SelectShift function will allow the driver to change gears manually using a toggle switch on the gearshift lever. The Ford Aspire gets a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which makes 95 bhp and 119 Nm of peak torque. It is the same engine as on the Ford Figo.

Expect the AT variants of the Aspire to be launched in the coming months.
