Hero Posts Two-Wheeler Sales Of More Than 7 Lakh Units

- Hero sold more than 7 lakh two-wheelers in May 2018
- Hero sales had crossed the 7-lakh mark twice before
- Hero will launch the Xtreme 200R by July or August this year
Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer by volume, has posted the company's best-ever sales figures for the month of May. Hero continues to consolidate its market leadership in sales volumes by clocking yet another month of sales of more than 7 lakh units in May 2018. The last time Hero crossed that figure was in March 2018, when the company had sold 7.3 lakh two-wheelers. In all, Hero despatched 7,06,365 units of motorcycles and scooters in May 2018, a growth of 11 per cent over the same month a year ago, when the company had sold 6,33,884 units.
This is the third time Hero has crossed the landmark 7 lakh sales with the two previous months being March 2018, when the company had sold 7,30,473 two-wheelers and in September 2017, when Hero despatched 7,20,739 two-wheelers. With the forecast of a good monsoon this year, Hero will expect to continue the company's sales momentum in the later part of the year as well.

The Hero Xtreme 200R will be launched in the third quarter of the current fiscal year
Hero is expected to introduce a new 200 cc premium commuter motorcycle soon, the Hero Xtreme 200R, possibly sometime in July 2018. The 200 cc motorcycle segment is one of the fastest growing segments in the markets, registering a growth of more than 40 per cent. Although overall volumes are nowhere close the high-volumes commuter motorcycle segments like the 100-110 cc and 110-125 cc segments, Hero will be looking to grab a slice of the rapidly growing 200 cc segment which has, so far, been dominated by Bajaj Auto and to some extent, TVS Motor Company. The Xtreme 200R is yet to be launched, but priced competitively, it has the potential to rake in some few additional sales numbers.
