India-Spec Jeep Compass Cabin Revealed In Latest Spy Shots

- The all-new Jeep Compass will be launched in India by mid-2017
- The spied test mule came with a black-grey dual tone cabin
- India will be the sole manufacturing location for RHD Jeep Compass
The soon-to-be-launched 2017 Jeep Compass was recently spotted testing in India again. While the previous pictures that we shared with you were not all that clear, this time the car was spotted up close and with lesser camouflage. In fact, in one of these pictures, the spy photographer also managed to get a shot of the cabin revealing the interior of the India-spec model for the first time. The Jeep Compass is slated to go on sale in India in mid-2017 and will rival the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V.

While the cabin of the 2017 Jeep Compass also comes with its fair share of camouflage, parts of the door panel and the entire dashboard is quite visible. The test mule came with a black-grey dual tone cabin and the dashboard seems to be covered in nice soft touch plastic. There are silver enclosures for the horizontal Air-Con vents, all-black centre console, a small infotainment display, three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, twin pod instrument cluster and more.
There were three test mules at the scene and the one with the least amount of camouflage revealed a white colour tone for the body and had simple black wheels. Up front, the new Jeep Compass comes with a wide grille flanked by horizontal headlamps with projector lights. The front bumper looks beefy and houses trapezoidal enclosures on either side with round foglamp and daytime running lights (DRLs). The bumper cladding comes with a wide airdam and front skid plate.

Jeep Compass Front
From the sides, the Compass replicates the design language of the Grand Cherokee and clearly gets its proportions on the point. The side profile of the SUV gets flared wheel arches, underbody cladding, and roof rails, while the rear comes with stylish horizontal LED tail lamps, roof mounted spoiler and cladded rear bumper with skid plate and twin chrome-tipped exhaust. In fact at the LA Auto Show, the new Compass was being called as the baby-Grand Cherokee and the photos will tell you why.

Jeep Compass Rear
The car is 4.4 metres long, making it bigger than the Renegade, which is 4.2 metres in length. This also means that the compass by no means will be a sub-4 metre model. It also has an impressive ground clearance of 221mm. Under the hood, the SUV is likely to get a couple of 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Transmission options will include a 9-speed automatic, while a manual is also likely to be offered.
The all-new Jeep Compass will be locally manufactured at FCA's Ranjangaon facility near Pune. In fact, the Jeep Compass SUVs manufactured in India will also be exported to other right-hand-drive (RHD) markets around the world, making India one of the key exports hubs for Jeep. This also means that the new Compass will drive in with localisation levels upwards of 75-80% from day one, and thus making it the most affordable Jeep model in India.
