Jeep Meridian SUV Receives 1200 Bookings

- The Meridian will be launched in India on May 19

Jeep India is all set to launch its 7-seater SUV - the Meridian tomorrow. Ahead of the launch of the car, the company had opened bookings for the SUV from May 3, 2022 and the response has been good. carandbike has learnt has received over 1200 bookings for the SUV even before it has been launched and that just shows how much interest there is the 7-seater full size SUV segment in India. In fact, 300 of these bookings came even before the company officially opened bookings in the country. The Jeep Meridian steps into a segment which already has established players like the Toyota Fortuner, which is the reigning king of the full-size SUV segment, as average sales of the SUV stand at around 2000 units a month. The other SUV it locks horns with is the MG Gloster, which comes filled to the brim with tech.

The Meridian too comes good amount of features. In terms of the equipment, the Jeep Meridian SUV will pack in a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, connected car tech with an embedded SIM, a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless phone charging, powered front seats with ventilation, a powered tailgate and much more. The safety kit includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and tyre pressure monitoring.

Currently, the Meridian is only available with the diesel engine option but gets automatic and manual transmission.
The Jeep Meridian will be manufactured at the company's Ranjangaon facility near Pune and will be offered only with the diesel engine for now. Power in the Jeep Meridian SUV comes from the familiar 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine developing 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual and 9-speed torque converter automatic units. The front-wheel-drive system comes as a standard fitment with both gearboxes, but there's also an AWD on offer. Jeep says the Meridian SUV features up to 82 per cent localised components.
