Mahindra and Mahindra, the home-grown auto manufacturer is currently gearing up for its next big launch the S101. The carmaker will finally announce the official name of the micro SUV this week on December 18 and to build a little buzz, Mahindra today revealed the first teaser image of the all-new S101.

The Mahindra S101 will be the third sub-4 meter vehicle to be launched by Mahindra, after the Quanto and TUV300, and the carmaker is claiming it to be a compact SUV as well. That being said, we find it a little bit odd, especially considering the fact that S101 looks more like a hatchback or a crossover rather than a compact SUV.

Coming to the car itself, the S101, like the Mahindra XUV500, has been built on the Monocoque chassis and comes with front wheel drive architecture. Under the hood the car is likely to be powered by an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre mHawk80 diesel motor, which is the same one used in the Mahindra TUV300. Transmission options could include a five-speed manual and probably an AMT unit.
