Maruti Suzuki Issues Major Recall For Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross And XL6 Petrol Models

Maruti Suzuki India has issued a recall for nearly 1.82 lakh vehicles, which includes the petrol models of the Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza and XL6. The recall is to inspect and replace the vehicle's Motor Generator Unit, which may have a potential safety defect.

Maruti Suzuki India has issued a major recall for petrol models of the Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza and XL6 vehicles. According to the company's regulatory filing on the Bombay Stock Exchange, in total 181,754 units of the aforementioned models, which were manufactured between May 4, 2018 to October 27, 2020, have been affected. The carmaker has said that the recall is for the inspection and replacement of the vehicle's Motor Generator Unit, which may have a potential safety defect. The company has further stated that the inspection and replacement will be done free of cost. However, the replacement process of the defective part will commence from the first week of November 2021. Till then, the company has asked owners of the affected vehicles to avoid driving in waterlogged areas and direct water spray on electrical/electronic parts in the vehicle. Also Read: Maruti Suzuki Expects 60% Drop In September Production Due To Chip Shortage The complete inspection and replacement process will start from November 2021 and it will be done free of cost Owners can check if their vehicle is part of the recall or not by visiting the 'Imp Customer Info' section on the company's Maruti Suzuki Arena website for Vitara Brezza and Ertiga, and the Nexa website for the Ciaz, S-Cross and XL6. They will need to fill in their vehicle's chassis number (MA3, followed by the 14-digit alpha-numeric number) to check if their vehicle needs any attention. The four-cylinder motor is also paired with the company smart hybrid SHVS system in all five vehicles.
