Maruti Suzuki Price Hike Across All Models

- Maruti Suzuki increases prices across all models
- Price hike ranges from Rs 1,500 to Rs 8,014 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
- Recently launched Maruti Suzuki Ignis not affected by price hike
Maruti Suzuki has announced a price increase on all its models with immediate effect. The price increase will range from Rs 1,500 to Rs 8,014 and will be applicable to all the cars in the Maruti Suzuki range excluding the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Cars sold from both the standard channel i.e. Maruti Suzuki dealerships and those sold through the Nexa dealership channel which are the premium outlets for cars like the Baleno and S-Cross will both be affected by the price increase. The Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Wagon R have had a price increase of about Rs 1,500 while the Baleno sees the maximum price increase at Rs 8,014.
It is important to note that unlike most auto-makers, Maruti Suzuki had not increased its prices on the 1st of January and this is the first price hike from Maruti in 2017. The last time Maruti Suzuki hiked prices was in August 2016 where an increase of almost Rs 20,000 was implemented. The hike in car prices has been attributed to the increase in commodity, transportation and administrative costs.

2017 is a packed year for Maruti Suzuki with new cars and a new manufacturing facility. The long awaited factory in Gujrat will finally be online by mid-February and will make close to 15000 units of the Baleno by the end of March. The new launches for 2017 will include a new variant of the Baleno i.e. the petrol turbocharged Baleno RS which will be launched in February and the Swift and Swift Dzire which will be launched later in the year. The Swift hatchback has already been unveiled in Japan but will see a more public unveil in the 2017 Geneva Auto Show and will make it to India in the second half of the year.

The Swift Dzire sub 4-meter compact sedan will actually precede the Swift hatchback in India and should be launched sometime in May or June 2017. Other launches for 2017 will include a new petrol powered version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and an updated and facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Maruti has also launched a higher spec variant of the Wagon R – the VXi+ which is priced at Rs 4.69 lakh.
