Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 And CLA 45 Launched in India

Mercedes-Benz today launched two new AMG cars in the Indian market - the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 and AMG CLA 45 with prices starting from Rs. 75.20 lakh and Rs. 77.85 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, pan-India). Both the AMG's also get a new Aero Edition and the CLA Aero Edition costs Rs. 77.69 lakh, while the AMG GLA 45 is priced at Rs. 80.67 lakh (ex-showroom pan India)The facelifted AMG cars come with some new styling cues and a bunch of cosmetic updates. Including these two new cars, Mercedes-Benz India has launched a total of seven AMG model in India this year including the flagship sports coupe - Mercedes-AMG GTR. Both the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 and CLA 45 are entry-level AMG models from the company's performance arm, and thus two of the most affordable ones as well.
Visually, both the 2017 Mercedes AMG GLA 45 and AMG CLA 45 look pretty much identical to the previous model except for the new styling and paint scheme. Along with some minor cosmetic tweaks, now the cars come in a new stylish glossy black paint job with yellow highlights for the front and rear bumper, tyre walls, and in the case of AMG GLA 45 the rear spoiler as well. Additionally, there is a matte black racing stripe that runs along the hood, roof and boot, and AMG graphics on both sides above the side skirts, which enhance the sporty character of the cars. Furthermore, you also get Mercedes-AMG's customisation package.
To go with the three letters in the name, the GLA 45 and CLA 45 also come with the signature AMG styling and body kit along with black mesh grille with AMG badging on the slat along with an aggressive front bumper housing a wide central airdam and large air intakes on either side for increased air inflow. Both the cars get sporty 19-inch alloy wheels but while the CLA 45 gets twin 9-spoke design, the GLA 45 gets single 9-spoke wheels. In addition to that car also features projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED taillamps and rear diffuser with a quad-exhaust setup.

Like the exterior, the cabin is also pretty much similarly designed in both the models. You get AMG-style treatment all around, with all-black interior and red contract lines and stitching along the dashboard, side panels and the leather seats. The sporty seats envelop you nicely and the steering and centre console is designed to be driver-oriented for a comfortable driving position. The centre stage on the dashboard is taken by infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink for smartphone connectivity.

Like the exterior, the cabin is also pretty much similarly designed in both the models.
Under the hood, both the cars pack the same 2-litre Bi-Turbo petrol engine that comes mated to an AMG SpeedShift DCT 7-Speed sports transmission as standard. The engine makes the same about of power in both the cars - 375 bhp and a peak torque of 475 Nm. The engine also gets the assistance of Mercedes' highly capable 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. With the AWD system, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 can go from 0-100 kmph is 4.4 seconds, while the AMG CLA 45 can do the same sprint in 4.2 seconds.
The company also offers an AMG Dynamic Plus Package that comes with mechanically controlled AMG front-axle differential lock provides improved traction in every driving situation. Other components of the package include the AMG Ride Control sports suspension with Adaptive Damping system and additional Race drive mode. You also get AMG High-Performance Braking System.
