Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition Launched In India, Priced At Rs. 86.90 Lakh

The Indian arm of German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz India has launched GLS Grand Edition in India for both its petrol and diesel variants. Both the diesel GLS 350 d Grand Edition and the petrol GLS 400 Grand Edition are priced at Rs. 86.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The GLS Grand Edition gets cosmetic updates like the black rings integrated with Intelligent LED light system and 'Grand Edition' badging on the outside along with chrome fins on the bonnet to create a visual appeal for the big SUV. Globally, the Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition was introduced at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. The company also revealed that India has emerged in the top 6 markets for the GLS SUV, globally and that the full-size luxury SUV remains a key product in the SUV portfolio of Mercedes-Benz.

As mentioned already, the Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition is all about visual enhancement and along with the LED Intelligent Light System with unique black rings; the GLS Grand Edition also gets enhanced fog lamp function while the dipped beam gets activated when speed is above 90kmph. It also comes fitted with 20-inch 10-spoke light alloy wheels, painted in Black and with a high-sheen finish.

On the inside, the Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition offers comfort and luxury similar to an S-Class. Step inside and you are greeted by two 7 inch high definition screens connected to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets the new heated 3-spoke multifunction Nappa leather steering wheel with steering wheel gearshift paddles, 12 function keys and an airbag cover in Nappa leather, instruments with modified details as well as a redesigned instrument panel with semi-integrated color media display. Rear seat entertainment system comes as standard with the new GLS Grand Edition and has a boot capacity of 680-litres that is expandable to 2300-litres.
Under the hood, the GLS 350 d comes with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that churns out max power of 254 bhp and peak torque of 620NM, while the GLS 400 gets the same 3.0-litre V6 petrol mill that produces 329 bhp of max power and 480Nm of peak torque. Both engines come mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox that sends power to 4MATIC permanent all-wheel-drive system. It also gets Dynamic Select controller with 5 modes- Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Individual and Off-road. In terms of performance, the diesel version of GLS Grand Edition can sprint from standstill to 100kmph in 7.8 seconds, while the petrol version can do the same in 6.6 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz is also offering service packages starting at Rs. 75,000 for the GLS 400 and Rs. 104,000 for the GLS 350 d for a period of two years. These new standard packages are offered with unlimited mileage covering maintenance related jobs. According to the company, these customer focused packages offers can last up to 10 years from the date of sale.
