Mercedes-Benz Records Sales Growth for 35th Consecutive Month

Mercedes-Benz has begun 2016 in sublime fashion by posting record unit sales figures for the month of January. The resurgent German carmaker sold 150,814 units showing an increase of 19.9 per cent. All 3 of the company's core sales regions, namely Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America, showed strong growth figures.

In contrast to January 2015, China in particular exhibited the most positive signs for the company in terms of sales. Units sold in China rose by a whopping 52 per cent. Mercedes-Benz also lead the premium car markets in USA, England, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Switzerland, and Portugal. In terms of its product line, the SUVs were a big driving factor as the segment enjoyed a growth rate of 60 per cent.

Ever since the recession-hit time period eased up, the German conglomerate has gone from strength to strength. Mercedes-Benz has been on the front foot for the past couple of years and by way of aggressively launching new products, has now posted a monthly growth in sales for 35 consecutive months. The company also has no intentions of easing up as 2016 will see it expand even more. India was witness to 15 new cars in 2015 from Mercedes which is aiming at introducing 12 more additions to its family in 2016.

At the on-going Auto Expo 2016 being held at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Mercedes-Benz showcased its stunning S-Class Cabriolet and GLC SUV. The company has been very successful in the subcontinent of late and outsold fierce competitor Audi for top honours in terms of segment sales in 2015. Compared to 2014, Mercedes saw a growth rate of 32 per cent in India as 13,502 units were sold over 2015. Sales statistics in developing nations in particular, have been driven by the launch of more affordable and compact models like the A-Class, B-Class and CLA.
