Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe India Launch On August 12

- AMG CLE 53 arrives almost a year after the launch of the CLE Cabriolet
- 3.0-litre, twin-turbo in-line-six makes 442 bhp and up to 600 Nm
- Expected to be priced over Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom)
Confirmed for an India launch back in January 2025, the AMG CLE 53 Coupe will officially be launched in India on August 12. The coupe arrives almost a year after the CLE nameplate first arrived in India with the CLE 300 Cabriolet that was launched in August last year.

The CLE Coupe carries over the same basic design as the CLE Cabriolet, with the most notable difference being the flowing roofline that extends almost to the tip of the boot lid. In typical AMG fashion, the CLE 53 gets more aggressive design details such as the Panamericana grille, sharper front and rear bumpers replete with splitter and diffuser elements, more pronounced fender flares, fender vents, a bonnet vent, bootlip spoiler and a quad exhaust.

The AMG treatment carries over to the cabin as well, which shares the same basic layout as the current C-class. You get AMG sports seats, AMG steering, AMG-specific graphics for the digital interfaces and sportier trim inserts. The AMG dynamic select function offers five driving programs: "Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. The driver can transition to manual mode using the "M" button for gear shifts via the shift paddles.

Under the hood, the CLE 53 gets an AMG-tuned 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine pushing out 442 bhp and 560 Nm of torque in daily use. The torque can be temporarily boosted to 600 Nm for 12 seconds via an over-boost function. The unit also benefits from a 48-volt mild-hybrid system featuring an integrated starter generator that adds up to 17 kW (22.6 bhp) of power and 205 Nm of torque under hard acceleration. Power is sent to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system and a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The top speed of AMG CLE is electronically limited up to 250 km/h and will hit 100 kmph in a claimed 4.2 seconds. Stopping power comes via 370 mm discs with four-piston callipers up front and 360 mm discs with single-piston callipers at the rear.

With the CLE 300 already priced around Rs 1.15 crore (ex-showroom), expect the AMG CLE 53 Coupe to be positioned upwards of Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom).
