Gadkari had launched the Toyota Mirai FCEV pilot project in India earlier this month.
Gadkari had earlier launched the pilot project of India's first hydrogen-based advanced "Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV)" - the Toyota Mirai. He had also shared a video of how green hydrogen can power a car and had said that green hydrogen was an efficient, eco-friendly and sustainable energy pathway to make India energy self-reliant. In fact, Gadkari had confirmed in January itself that he would himself use a hydrogen-powered car. He had said that Toyota had given him a vehicle which runs on green Hydrogen and he would use it himself as a pilot project on alternative fuel.

Gadkari had said that he would be using the FCEV himself.
As mentioned earlier, Gadkari has often favoured a green transition in fuel, saying rapid strides in green fuel technology will reduce the cost of electric vehicles (EVs), bringing them on a par with petrol-run vehicles in a short time. The Toyota Mirai is the brand's flagship FCEV and Toyota has launched the pilot project in collaboration with the International Centre for Automotive Technology - India's state-run automotive testing, certification and R&D service organisation based in Gurugram. On a full tank, the Mirai can go up to a claimed 600 kilometres.
