Polestar 4 SUV-Coupe Previewed, Will Debut After new 3 SUV

- Polestar confirms 3 new EVs to arrive by 2024
- Polestar 3 to be followed up by new 4 SUV-Coupe
- New Image provides first look at rear of the Polestar 3 SUV and 5 sedan
Just a day after announcing that the company would be attending the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Polestar has shared another image previewing its upcoming range along with sharing the company's outlook for the coming years. The most notable inclusions in the image were the upcoming new Polestar 3 SUV and Polestar 5 sedan with a covered car in the centre previewing the new 4 SUV-Coupe.
Starting with the new Polestar 4, the car was previewed while hidden under a cover though the immediately noticeable design element is the coupe-like roofline and the slim full-width tail-lamps – a design element on all Polestar models. Other design elements visible include the rear shoulder line, high SUV stance and cladding around the rear bumper and wheel arches. Polestar has confirmed that the new 4 will arrive shortly after the global launch of the 3 SUV in 2023. The 5 sedan will only arrive in 2024.

The image also provides a first look at the undisguised rear of the Polestar 3 SUV due to launch globally next year. Like its Polestar sibling the 3 too gets a full-width tail-lamp with the roofline tapering in an almost coupe-like style towards the rear. An upright tailgate, highest rear bumper, notable ride height and prominent use of black cladding add to the SUV look.
Moving to the 5 sedan, the image provides a first glance on what appears to be the near-production model undisguised. The model sits quite high off the ground with the D-pillar flowing all the way up to the trailing edge of the car. An interesting design element is the apparent lack of a rear windshield suggesting that the car could come with a camera-based inside rear view mirror. The rear bumper features a prominent blacked-out lower section with a silver finished diffuser-like insert. The Polestar 5 is set to only make its debut in 2024 with the company saying that the model is currently in “advanced stages of development.” A pre-production prototype of the car will be present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and will be participating in the Hill Climb event.
Rear image of the Polestar 5 hints at the lack of a rear wind shield.
Polestar also announced that it was well on its way to meeting some of its brand expansion targets such as having a presence in 30 markets by the end of 2023. The company said that it was well ahead of its plans with a presence in 25 markets currently – up from just 10 in 2020. The company also has a positive outlook for the coming years with its expanding portfolio.

“Our order intake is at record levels and currently represents an annualised run-rate of over 75,000 vehicles, putting us in a strong position as the production landscape normalises. In addition, with both Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 on the horizon, we are set to play a leading role in the electrification of lucrative and sizeable premium SUV segments. With a 2025 production capacity for these two EVs expected above 160,000 vehicles per year, we will have the ability to scale quickly and attract new customers to the brand,” said Mike Whittington, Head of Global Sales at Polestar.
