Polestar 5 Prototype To Be Showcased At Goodwood Festival Of Speed

- Prototype to run in the Goodwood hill climb
- Will be based on an all-new platform
- Expect to debut in production form in 2023
Polestar will showcase a pre-production prototype of its upcoming EV, the 5 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The upcoming sedan's prototype will participate in the Goodwood Hill Climb at the event and will be showcased alongside the Polestar 2 BST Edition 270. Previewed by 2020's Polestar Percept, the production Polestar 5 will retain the sleek four-door coupe proportions of the concept though it is only expected to go into production in 2024. The company shared an image of the pre-production prototype showing the car covered in heavy camouflage though the similarity in shape to the Percept concept is noticeable.
“This year, we are thrilled to showcase Polestar 5 going up the hill! Our UK R&D team is doing an amazing job developing the car, and we are proud to be able to highlight their hard work at this early stage,” said Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath.

The 5 will be based on the Polestar Percept concept that debut in 2020.
Taking a closer look at the camouflaged prototype a few design changes over the Percept concept that become visible are the conventional front-hinged rear doors and the use of regular wing mirrors in place of the concept's digital unit.
The company said that the prototype would be displayed at the First Glance Paddock and complete multiple runs in the hill climb. The company will also be showcasing the Percept concept at the show.
The production Polestar 5 is only expected to debut sometime next year. The motor configuration too remains under wraps at this time with few details available as to the model's specifications. The Polestar 5 will sit on a all-new platform which will offer the flagship sedan with supercar levels of body rigidity.
The carmaker is looking to rival the likes of the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT with the new 5.
