Skoda Auto India To Triple Sales In 2022; Targets 70,000 Units

Skoda Auto India has amped up its aggression quotient when it comes to the Indian market. The company has been pushing to ramp up sales in the country and under the India 2.0 strategy, there are more products coming to the country which will see a high level of localization. While that process has already begun in 2020, the Kushaq compact SUV was a key figure to set the wheels in motion. The second car to bring in sales for the company is the Slavia compact sedan and that will launch in March this year. Of course, there's one more car that will be launched on January 10, 2022 and that's the Kodiaq. And with all these cars in addition to the Superb and Octavia, Skoda Auto India plans to triple its sales in 2022. The company has set itself a target of 70,000 units for next year.

The Slavia will be launched in March this year
While the bulk of the sales will be from the Kushaq and the Slavia, the other cars will contribute significantly to this number. Answering carandbike's query about the allocation of sales from the portfolio, Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said. "We will probably sell 5000 units from our Aurangabad plant (where the Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq are built) and the balance will come from the Kushaq and the Slavia. Now the Kushaq will have a full year when it comes to sales so we are expecting 2000 to 3000 unit sales per month. Even when it comes to the Slavia we are expecting it to sell 2000 to 3000 units per month and that will give us the boost in sales."

The company will launch the Kodiaq on January 10, 2022
While it's an ambitious target for Skoda Auto India, there's another good reason to achieve it. Hollis further mentioned, "This(Achieving the target) will bring us to one of the top ten markets for Skoda worldwide. Skoda India will contribute greatly to the overall growth strategy of Skoda Worldwide."
With the launch of the Slavia, Skoda Auto India wants to capture the compact sedan market in the country and be a front runner in that segment as well.
