Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition To Be Launched In India In 2017

- Skoda will be launching four new products in India by 2017
- The Monte Carlo edition cars pay homage to Skoda's racing heritage
- The Monte Carlo edition package also comes on the Citigo, Fabia and Yeti
The Monte Carlo edition package is also available for the Citigo, Fabia, Rapid and Yeti in the European markets. These special edition cars were built to pay homage to Skoda's racing heritage and come with some prominent cosmetic changes. The most distinguishing feature of the Monte Carlo edition cars is the special red body colour that is accompanied by stylish black accentuates on the front grill, headlamp inserts, body accents, ORVMs, alloy wheels and the tail lamp cluster.
Sadly the car that you see in these pictures is the European Rapid - which is different to the car sold in India under the same name. So while we won't get the European model with the Monte Carlo trim, the same trim and all its trappings will be added to the Indian facelifted Rapid. Yes - the India-spec Monte Carlo edition Rapid will be based on the upcoming Rapid facelift. While the paint scheme will remain the same, the changes will be pertaining to the car's few features and equipment.

Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition Side Profile (European Model)
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition comes with other exterior additions like a redesigned front bumper that houses a wider air dam along with new horizontal fog lamps. The front grille looks sleeker and resembles the new grille design of the Superb and the Octavia and the car now also get new matte black bumper chin and side skirts. The rear section of the car in particular has been fashioned with black metallic accents on the boot line and the tail lamps enclosure.

Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Rear (European Model)
As for the interior of the car, the Monte Carlo edition Rapid's cabin is designed to ooze motorsport devotion. The car gets sporty bucket-style upholstery with black, grey and red colours for the seat. To further enhance the sporty character of the car, Skoda has added stainless steel pedals and carbon firbre-design dashboard trim. Other features include a multi-functional flat bottom steering wheel sheathed in red-stitched perforated leather and a sporty instrument cluster unique to the Monte Carlo edition.

Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition Features (European Model)
Under the hood, the new Rapid Monte Carlo edition is likely to use the same engine option currently available in the outgoing model - the 1.5-litre turbo diesel and the 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine. While the oil burner produces the same max power of 103bhp and develops a peak torque of 250Nm, the petrol engine churns out 103bhp and develops a peak torque of 153Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and the company's tried and tested 7-speed DSG unit as well.
