- The Suzuki Intruder shares its underpinnings with the Gixxer series

- The Suzuki Intruder locks horns againt the popular Bajaj Avenger 150
Suzuki Motorcycle India pulled quite a surprise as it gears up to launch the new Suzuki Intruder in the country. Not to be confused with the mighty Suzuki Intruder M1800R that is on sale globally and in India, the new Intruder is a modest 155 cc offering that is targeted to capture the growing interest of the small capacity cruisers. The all-new model shares its underpinnings with the Gixxer series and is targeted largely to compete with the very popular Bajaj Avenger 150 in the segment.

The new Suzuki Intruder not just borrows its name from the bigger model but the design too is identical to the M1800R. The flamboyant design has been replicated on the 155 cc cruiser complete with the fuel tank extensions and the triangular headlamp. The bike gets a split seat setup with the pillion seat moulded to resemble that of a cowl and gives a single-seat illusion on the Intruder. The instrument console is all digital on the cruiser and has been borrowed from the Gixxer as well.

While the chassis remains the same as the Gixxer, Suzuki has altered the front rake on the new Intruder for more relaxed riding. The foot pegs are centre set too unlike the M1800R. Much like the Gixxer, the Suzuki Intruder is powered by a 155 cc single-cylinder engine tuned to produce 14 bhp while peak torque of 14 Nm kicks in at 6000 rpm, about 2000 rpm compared to its street-fighter sibling. The motor comes paired to a 5-speed transmission.

Suspension duties on the bike are handled by telescopic forks up front while a monoshock unit serves purpose at the rear. Suzuki is offering the Intruder with disc brakes at the front and rear, but has missed out on ABS for now.
Suzuki India will be revealing complete details about the Intruder at an event today and we will be bringing you all the updates from the same.
