Tata Kite5 And Honda CB Hornet 160 R Win CII Design Excellence Awards

- The Tata Zest had won the same award in 2014
- The CB Hornet 160R is designed by Honda's design team
- The Kite 5 sub-compact sedan will launch in India in 2017
This is not the first time that Tata Motors has won this award as it was yet another compact sedan - Zest - which was awarded in the same category in 2014. The India Design Summit is a platform to create a partnership between design and organizations leading to innovation and increased economic competitiveness.
When Honda announced that it will be launching its 160cc CB Hornet 160R as its last bike in 2015 in the Indian market, everyone knew that it would face tough competition from the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-S FI V2.0 but it managed to grab the attention of a whole bunch of people out there and in fact a lot of work has been done on the design front. Yes, in terms of looks it's at par with its competitors, sadly though not as aggressive. The slightly-upward side exhaust gives the bike a sporty character as also the sharp curves on the fuel tank. The carbon-fibre-like touch on the fuel tank adds to its premium look while the X-shaped LED tail lamp complete the package.

The Kite 5 sedan has been an eagerly awaited one after it was showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. In fact the design of this sub-compact sedan has been much talked about. Much like the Tiago, the Tata Kite 5 also sports design inputs from the company's design centres in Pune, Italy, and the UK. Its design will also borrow a couple of elements from the hatchback and so the head-lamps and the wide grille on the car will be similar to the one on the Tiago.

Other than that, the Tata Kite5 will feature a wide chrome strip on the boot-lid, high-mounted LED stop lamp, and wrap-around tail lamps. It's good to see that the still-to-be-launched sedan is already making waves in the industry and we can't wait to see as also understand the strategy behind bringing out another sub-compact sedan.
