Top 5 Automotive Ads Of 2014

A lot of time, energy and money goes into making a car, but you'll agree that twice as much goes into selling it to consumers. I can't remember the last time I watched an ice-cream ad and didn't rush down to the store to get one. That's the power and impact an ad has.
There is no denying that effective advertisement contributes a great amount to sales, and this year was no different. We bring to you the top 5 car ads that blew us away. Simple and strong are the two words which go hand in hand when you see them. Of course, if you have any more that we might have missed, do share them with us.
1) Honda 'Hands'
This one has the most simple idea. The brief to the agency from Honda might have been as 'brief' as "Show that we are 65-years old" and well look what the final product is like. It starts with two hands, one nut and curiosity. See it to believe it, I would say because one, nut changes into an engine, different motorbikes, a Honda Civic, a BTCC Civic touring car, an NSX and finally a Honda Jazz. The ad tells you all about Honda's 65-years of innovation and does justice to their hard work.
2) Jaguar F-Type: It's Good To Be Bad
There has not been a single Jaguar Land Rover ad that I haven't enjoyed. This one, dubbed as 'The Villains' promotes the Jaguar F-Type and how! It works on the premise of how Hollywood movies mostly feature British villains and then goes on to showcase British heritage via actors Ben Kingsley, Mark Strong and Tom Hiddleston. They play ruthless tea-drinking, stiff-upper-lip-flaunting British villains to promote the F-Type Coupe.
3) Toyota HiLux
This Australian advert is about the Toyota HiLux pick-up, which boasts of a rough 'n' ready image. The 'Unbreakable Drivers' ad shows prospective HiLux owners going through a rigorous screening process, which is then followed by a series of extreme challenges from pulling a rubber sheep from a high voltage fence to eating a red hot motorway service station pie without flinching. Of course, only the toughest of them survive but I won't give out the ending, it's worth the wait.
4) Mercedes Magic Body Control
Two things make this ad brilliant, and they are chickens and Diana Ross. It's brilliant because it simplifies the complex technology of Magic Body Control and helps folks understand what it actually does. It also sticks to the fact that chickens can barely move their eyes, so their head must remain stationary to hold focus on whatever they're looking at. This is all demonstrated with Diana Ross' 'Upside Down' running seamlessly in the background. It gets the point across and manages to put a smile on your face in the process.
5) Audi Doberhuahua
This one might not be 'ha ha' funny, but makes for a good point. According to the ad, the Audi A3 does not make the consumer compromise. Slating the example of a mix breed dog, a 'doberhuahua', the ad goes on to say how a compromise doesn't necessarily make you happy. The Audi A3 on the other hand isn't a compromise but a complete car which is reliable. Good graphics and the effectiveness of the ad brings this one in to our top 5.
