Two-Wheeler Sales August 2022: Bajaj Auto Domestic Sales Up 48 Per Cent

- The Bajaj Platina has recoded best-ever sales numbers of over 1 lakh units
- Domestic market overall sales grow 49 per cent in August 2022
- Overall exports decline by 29 per cent in August 2022
Bajaj Auto has reported an 8 per cent increase of overall vehicle sales in August 2022, with overall two-wheeler sales recording 5 per cent growth in combined domestic market and overseas sales. In all, Bajaj Auto reported sales of 4,01,595 units in August 2022, compared to 3,73,270 units in the same month a year ago. Total domestic market sales of 2,56,755 units in August 2022 is a massive 49 per cent improvement over domestic market sales in August 2021. But overall exports declined by 28 per cent, down from 2,00,675 units in August 2021 to 1,44,840 units in August 2022.

The company reported total two-wheeler sales of 3,55,625 units in August 2022, a 5 per cent improvement over August 2021, when the company had despatched 3,38,310. Overseas two-wheeler despatches slid by a massive 32 per cent for Bajaj Auto, India’s largest exporter of motorcycles, with 1,21,787 units sold in August 2022, compared to 1,80,339 units exported in August 2021.

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 is the newest model in the Pulsar family. Overall domestic market sales numbers have improved 49 per cent year-on-year.

The silver lining for Bajaj Auto was domestic market two-wheeler sales, with the highest-ever sales of the Bajaj Platina range of commuter motorcycles, which accounted for more than 1,00,000 units in August 2022. In all, Bajaj reported domestic market two-wheeler sales of 2,33,838 units, a massive 48 per cent improvement over August 2021, when the company had sold 1,57,971 two-wheelers in the domestic market.
