Upcoming Kia Carens Three-Row MPV Engine Options Revealed

- The Kia Carens MPV will share its engines with the Seltos compact SUV
- The Carens will come with 2 petrol and 1 diesel engine option
- The Kia Carens 3-Row Vehicle is expected to be launched in early 2022
Kia has officially unveiled its next product for the Indian market, a new MPV called Kia Carens. The Korean carmaker today revealed a bunch of information about the upcoming three-row vehicle, except for the engine options. However, we now finally know what will power the Kia's MPV. Now, the Carens is based on the Kia Seltos, and the company has confirmed that it will also be sharing its engine options with the popular compact SUV. So, the choices include - the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor, and a 1.5-litre diesel mill.

The 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine, in addition to the manual gearbox , will also get an optional automatic 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed torque converter unit
Now the naturally aspirated petrol engine will come with a manual gearbox as standard. However, the other two engines - the 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre oil burner - in addition to the manual unit, will also get an optional automatic 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and a 6-speed torque converter unit, respectively.

In the Seltos, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine makes 113 bhp with 144 Nm of torque, whereas the 1.4-litre T-GDi turbo petrol engine offers 138 bhp with 242 Nm of peak torque. The oil burner, on the other hand, offers 113 bhp and 250 Nm. While we expect to power figures to remain unchanged, Kia is yet to officially announce the power figures.

The Kia Carens comes with SUV-like styling, which is accentuated by the dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, and sharp LED taillamps
The Kia Carens employs the company's latest global design language and thus comes with a bold new look and aggressive styling. It gets new LED taillamps, LED DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels, LED taillamps and more. Inside the Carens comes with a well-appointed cabin, offered in both 6- and 7-seater options with features like a 10.25-inch infotainment system with UVO connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto climate control, ventilated front seats, Bose surround sound system, ambient lighting and much more. In terms of safety, it will come with six airbags and all-four disc brakes as standard along with other driver-assist features like - electronic stability control, hill descent control, rollover mitigation and hill assist among others.
