Kia Carens 3-Row MPV Global Debut highlights

The Kia Carens three-row vehicle has made its global debut in India today, and we'll be bringing you all the live updates from the event here. Kia India is calling the new Carens a new class of recreational vehicle, so we believe it will be a three-row vehicle based on the Seltos compact SUV. Now, upon launch, it will take on the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar among others. We expect the new Kia Carens MPV, to officially go on sale in India, sometime in early 2022.

Now, the name itself is not new. Kia used to sell a compact MPV named Carens in Korea between 1999 and 2018, however, globally it was more popularly known as Kia Rondo. With this new-generation model, Kia aims to revive the name again, and India will be the first market to get it. In fact, Kia is targeting it towards modern Indian families, so, you'll see that the vehicle appears to have a long footprint, it's tall and has a near-straight roofline, all of which hint at a spacious cabin.

Based on the sketches revealed by Kia, we can tell that the Carens will come with an aggressive design. It will get a split lighting setup, signature LED DRLs, sleek LED headlamps, sporty alloy wheels and sharp-looking LED taillamps. As for the cabin, the design sketch reveals a minimalist design for the dashboard with very few buttons and horizontal air-convents. The cabin also comes with several glossy styling inserts, along with chrome garnish on the doors, and a 10.25-inch Audio Video Navigation Telematics (AVNT) positioned on the dashboard.
