Volkswagen May Recall 100000 Cars In India

The company is still investigating the matter and any decision on a recall is yet to be made, a Volkswagen India spokesman said. Europe's biggest carmaker has admitted cheating in emissions tests on around 11 million diesel vehicles globally - the biggest business crisis in its 78-year history.

We've already told you that the company has issued a recall for nearly 2.4 million cars in Germany alone and we've also said that the company would be addressing the issues related to this recall from 2016.

After the emission scandal was revealed, the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), has been investigating whether Volkswagen cars have flouted emission norms in India. ARAI is still working on collecting data on Volkswagen vehicles and plans to submit a report to the government by the end of this month.

The company had issued a recall for 389 Polo cars in India this month but that was not related to the emission scandal. The company had claimed that it was the handbrake mechanism in the car that was the problem and has started addressing it.
