Volvo Eicher CEO Vinod Aggarwal Replaces Vipin Sondhi As SIAM's New Vice President

- Vinod Aggarwal is the MD & CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles
- Sondhi had to forgo the role following his resignation from Ashok Leyland
- Aggarwal will serve as VP SIAM for the current fiscal year of 2021-22
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has announced appointing Vinod Aggarwal, MD and CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) as its new Vice President. Agarwal, who was elected by the apex body, replaces Vipin Sondhi, MD and CEO, Ashok Leyland, who served as the Vice President of SIAM from September 2020 till date. Sondhi had to forgo the Vice Presidentship because he has resigned from his position as the MD and CEO of Ashok Leyland. Aggarwal will serve as VP SIAM only for the current fiscal year 2021-22 until re-elections happen.

Vipin Sondhi had to forgo the Vice Presidentship because he has resigned from his position as the MD and CEO of Ashok Leyland
Earlier in November, Ashok Leyland has announced that Sondhi has expressed his intention to devote more time to taking care of certain personal and family commitments in the post-COVID pandemic situation. His extended presence is required in New Delhi and consequently, he has stepped down as MD and CEO with effect from December 31, 2021. Respecting his personal decision, the Board has agreed to his decision to move on.

Commenting on the latest development, Kenichi Ayukawa, President of SIAM said, "We thank Vipin Sondhi for his valuable and active contribution and leadership as Vice President of SIAM, and wish him all the best for his future endeavours. We welcome Vinod Aggarwal as the Vice-President. He is an old hand at SIAM and has led as the Treasurer."
