Volvo Renames Electric SUVs In India: C40 Is Now EC40, XC40 Switches To EX40

- EX40 now solely offered as a single-motor variant.
- EC40 can only be had in dual-motor guise now.
- EX40 gets a 69 kWh battery, while EC40 has a 78 kWh unit.
Volvo’s all-electric range in India has been updated for 2025. The main news however is that the models- previously called the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge have now been rebadged and are now named the EX40 and EC40, respectively. This is after the new names were globally introduced nearly a year ago. The EX40 and EC40, both offered in one variant each, are priced at Rs 50.10 lakh and Rs 59 lakh respectively. The list of features offered in both models are more or less similar, and include a nine-inch infotainment screen, 12.3-inch driver display, Harman Kardon sound system, and pixel LED headlights. This is in addition to driver assistance features such as 360-degree cameras, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation support, and hill start assist.

On the powertrain front, the EX40 is solely offered with a single motor setup on the rear axle that churns out 241 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. The model is equipped with a 69 kWh battery pack that delivers a range of up to 475 km, according to Volvo. The EC40 meanwhile, can only be had in dual-motor guise which makes a combined 414 bhp and 660 Nm of torque. The EC40 also benefits from a larger 78 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 530 km.
