Spy shots of what seems to be the Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter at a Yamaha dealership, have emerged in India, leading to speculation that the scooter may be launched in India. With the Auto Expo 2018 just a few days away, the Yamaha Aerox 155 may be showcased at the event by India Yamaha. The Yamaha Aerox 155 is already on sale in certain markets in South East Asia, and it boasts of sharp styling, with a sportbike-inspired front apron, LED lights all around and best in class underseat storage.
The Aerox 155 is powered by a 155.1 cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, SOHC, four-valve engine which makes 14.8 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 13.8 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The engine is fuel-injected and boasts of variable valve actuation. The Yamaha Aerox 155 has a host of features such as 25-litre underseat storage, and a fuel tank placed in the front, dual LED headlights, power socket and a LCD instrument panel. If Yamaha decides to launch the scooter in India, then it certainly seems to be a promising product for Yamaha. So far, only Piaggio has any scooters in the 150 cc space, with the Vespa and Aprilia range. There's no word on when an India launch will happen, if at all India Yamaha decides to introduce this scooter. But given the rapid growth in the scooter segment, the Yamaha Aerox 155 may make for a sound business case, if Yamaha decides to manufacture it and sell it in India.
