It's no secret that Volkswagen has been planning a product offense in India and they'd already said that they''ll be bringing in 5 products in the span of 2 years and this plan includes the next-gen Beetle.
The last time around the Beetle was here, Volkswagen had discontinued sales of the car due to poor sales numbers. With the new one however, Volkswagen wants to right the wrongs.
The Beetle has been imported to India for homologation and this means that the car will be launched soon. Like the previous car, this iconic model will come to India via the CBU route and this means that it will have an effect on the price too.
Pricing is likely to begin from Rs. 25 lakh and Volkswagen is betting on the 1.4-litre TSI variant to bring in a bit of oomph! and attract a new set of customers to this car. The Beetle, when launched, will compete with hatchbacks from luxury car manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and also the Mini
